My friends and I come here once a week for their grilled chicken plate after playing tennis at Diamond Head Courts. My husband finally tasted their chicken and said it was "awesomely good!" I haven't really tried anything else because I love this plate SO MUCH! I actually crave it! Portions are plentiful, and it's a pleasant cafe setting. Parking has always been available in the back, and the service is courteous and very friendly. TRY IT! You'll like it!

Quick notes: I came here early one morning and I've been back literally every morning (and maybe some afternoons). Keep reading to find out why... Service: genuinely friendly and helpful. Every staff member is welcoming when you come in and it is clear your experience here matters. Food/drinks: their plantation tea is very addicting and refreshing. Not too sweet and not overloaded with ice. The hibiscus mint tea is another winner with a very subtle touch of sweet combined with a cool mint and passion flavor. The Monsarrat Plate is a hearty breakfast plate at a BETTER PRICE than the major chain coffee shops. Both indoor and outdoor seating areas are clean and decorated with lots of aloha and pineapples (how fitting!) Note: there is parking in the back of the establishment as well as available street parking on the nearby side street.

I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the food, my picky teenagers devoured the dishes. Very local and authentic and delicious. We walked here after the diamond head hike. Not sure if it's because of the hike and hunger, my boys said it's the best food in the past few days. Service is also great.

The food, service and ambiance is so wonderful at this amazing little spot we found quite by accident. Everything we had was better than the next, all incredibly tasty!! Latte, Pineapple juice Smoothie, breakfast! All incredibly fresh. A type of pastry that was so amazing... sorry I don't know the name. The Staff were so kind and pleasant, really felt so welcoming. We will be returning. Definitely should be one $ not two!! This place is awesome.

If you take the public bus to the Diamond Head Summit Trail early in the morning (as Jamie W. and I heartily suggest you do), you'll probably be motivated to walk all the way back to Waikiki on Monsarrat Avenue. It's not a bad walk at all, but we were getting hungry well before we saw any sign of the Pacific. This bright cafe was the first tangible sign of edible nirvana. Reviews were quite positive, so we decided to have our brunch here. Unlike the eateries closer to the beach, it wasn't crowded at all. We immediately saw they make their own malasadas, so we ordered two for $1.50 each (photo: https://bit.ly/3SPdq1Y). Covered in sugar, they were soft and warm and gone too soon. Perfect start as we segued to our respective Hawaiian lunch plates. They had more standard rice plates with chicken and shrimp, but Jamie ordered the $16 Shrimp Omurice. It was a soft omelette rolled with butter rice, topped with eight garlic shrimp, and ladled with Alfredo sauce. After all, it wouldn't be Hawaiian unless it had cream, butter, and macaroni salad (photo: https://bit.ly/3F0YMyW). I went with the other special, the $14 Chicken Omurice. It consisted of pieces of braised chicken thigh over the same soft omelette and butter rice. Ketchup replaced the Alfredo sauce, and surprisingly, pineapple chunks replaced the macaroni salad (photo: https://bit.ly/3SOoAE8). Good stuff though, brudda, and it was refreshing to receive the gratitude of the owner at the end of the meal. Ho, dis buggah is 'ono! Fo' realz broke da mout! FOOD - 5 stars...real Hawaiian deliciousness AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...simple cafe and quite comfortable SERVICE - 5 stars...friendly and grateful TOTAL - 5 stars...you deserve it after scaling Diamond Head RELATED - Exploring Hawaii?
